A nail-biting and perfectly formed Thriller for the YA BookTok generation. This is SCOOBY DOO meets WIN LOSE KILL DIE. When hot "it-couple" Brad and Shelley are brutally murdered in a Victorian mansion, a group of teen friends investigate.
Set in a small town where rumour spreads as fast as the fire on the day of the killings, the theory is the old ghoul who haunts the house after his own murder nearly a century ago has finally taken revenge. As Cam, Jonesy, Amber and new-girl Buffy investigate, the rumour feels closer to the truth than they ever dared think possible, and as they enter the mansion themselves, the idea of splitting up to find evidence will prove to be either the best ... or worst decision of all...
A guaranteed page turner full of tension and twists you won't see coming! From BookToker Bill Wood comes SCOOBY DOO meets WIN KILL LOSE DIE Perfect for the YA BookTok generation.

I’ve been looking forward to reading this book for a while, especially during this cosy spooky season. Whilst I did read it after Halloween I had just finished my Screamathon and I was was the perfect mood for this book.

Let’s Split Up follows Cam, Jonesy, Amber in a small town of Sanera. Nothing happens in this town not until the ‘it’ couple of Sanera High decides to go to the edge of town to the most notable and legendary house, to discover whether it’s haunted by the ghoul of Carrington Manor. The next morning they are dead, burned and trapped alive. When new girl Buffy comes to town, Cam, Jonesy and Amber welcome her into the gang, but they don’t believe it was just an accident but something more supernatural. The more they look into it, the closer and more dangerous it gets.

‘But wait. We can’t split up. Rule number one of every horror movie ever: do not split up.”

This book gave me all of the supernatural, horror, Mystery Inc. nostaglaic vibes. We have the classic horror movie tropes, small town vibes, new girl, friends to lovers, found friendship, library research scene, and the scooby doo crew. We also have the slasher serial killer with an ode to Scream which for me was some of the best scenes. This book just had it all. It was creepy, haunting, and atmospheric.

Bill Wood has a captivating and gripping writing style. Each chapter, perspective builds you a scare at each turning point. Bill Wood’s had a captivating and gripping writing style. I couldn’t put it down for that very reason. What I feel I haven’t come across is a horror series like this. I’ve read a lot of standalones, but the ending of this book and the direction/plot twist – I loved it. I’m so excited for book 2 and more from the gang. Let’s Split Up makes my nostalgic heart full.

Rating – 5 stars
