“Morganville a small town in Texas. Its ordinary, in most ways, but the thing is, other are these – well, let’s not be shy about it. Vampires. They own it. They rule it. And when there is trouble, there’s the residents of the Glass House.”

Now let me cut to the chase… Claire Danvers and Shane Collins. Now I know Morganville is not the most romantic town when there are vampires and the most immediate threat, the draug. But I’ll have Shane Collins any day. Their love is truly spectacular. As it grows and develops into the constant flow of Rachel’s novels, it just astounds me. I wonder How will it end? Will they get married, have the perfect life ahead of them, have the life that they each deserve. Mr and Mrs Collins?

“Promise me you’ll marry me. Not now. Someday. Because I need to know.”
Claire felt a flutter inside, like a bird trying to fly, and a rush of heat that made her dizzy. And something else, something fragile as a soap bubble, and just as beautiful. Joy, in the middle of all this horror and heartbreak.

“Yes,” she whispered back. “I promise.”

I fall in love deeply when you are sucked into the magical moments of the Claire and Shane’s relationship. Despite their character flaws within the novel… Shane’s over-protectiveness, his impulsive and irrational need and the perfect profile of Moragnville’s Warrior. Yet at heart he is a Teddy bear (“Bite me” springs to mind), he tends not to show his emotional side as it wounds his alter ego! At times Shane conveys a very humorous side, that makes you feel like a love struck teenager. Claire has become the living proof that Einstein and a Heroine can live in Morganville. People do not take lightly since she has been in a relationship. You could say that’s he has inherited some of Shane’s Ruth fullness and strength. However like any relationship her flaw, is her irrational behaviour when its at the expense of a love one. Her beliefs and strength in fighting has made her a very influential and inspiring protagonist.

Morganville will not stay quiet for long after the death of Bishop. The Draug, risen from Greek Mythology, and the only piece of advice given is to Run… But Claire Danvers and friends will not stay too far from the action when the one the Master Draug is interested in Claire. With the Founder’s authority non-existent; Michael, Shane and Eve will have protect and guard themselves for the oncoming storm.

What disappoints me is that I didn’t get to read this book sooner. What prevented me? I don’t know. But one thing I would say, Don’t Delay and Read this Series! Its beyond Awesome!

“Shane settled his flamethrower more comfortably on his shoulders. “Ladies? After you.”“Rude,” Claire said. “I was being polite!” “Not when you have a flamethrower.”

The hysterics, love, humour and danger that surrounds these novels never seizes to amaze me. Now let get to the other residents of the Glass House… Eve and Michael Glass. They are engaged to be married. There engagement wasn’t a shock yet it was the news that Morganville greatly appreciate. The conflict between Vampires and Humans have risen preventing the ruling to proceed their happiness. But they don’t care, what matters is the love and passion they share with each other. And they will fight for it!

Eve the Goth of Morganville isn’t quite as hardcore as you may suspect. Her make-up is just a cover up of whats beneath it; kind, courageous, intelligent and not afraid of a good mocca! Yet her persona also shows that she is not afraid and will do damn right anything to disobey the rules of Morganville. Eve isn’t no Princess but she isn’t no Warrior either. The best aspect of her character is being attached to Michael. Michael is the luscious vampire that we all know and love. He musical intentions shine through his persona and calms the darker side of his character. Michael is conflicted by himself, by the growing loss of his humanity. But you will see that Eve is Michael’s anchor and Eve, his!

After the Founder has been incapacitated by the Master Draug’s bite, Morganville is under the protection of Claire, Shane, Michael and Eve. But with the increasing amount of draugs spreading throughout and no concrete weapon against them, they have their work cut out for them. But not only is there trouble outside, she has to consider the tension between her own circle of friends and whether or not they are going to survive the day not necessarily the week!?

Could you imagine being surrounded by vampires and yet have be part of the Glass House family. I could. No question of danger or fear will penetrate the love that Michael, Eve, Shane and Claire portray. But you can’t have your family without the hysterics of Myrnin. An over- enthusiastic, scientifically crazy vampire with a very eccentric wardrobe. Including the ever so funny and much loved vampire bunny slippers.

Once again another superb and deeply moving and fast-paced novel that will keep you on the edge of you seats. I can’t wait to finish my current read Bitter Blood.

  1. I've been meaning to read this series for ages but they never have the first one at my library! They must be popular! I really love the covers! <3

  2. EEEP, love this series so much! <3 I'm not really a fan of Shane, but I LOVE Myrnin and Michael. 🙂 Great reviews!

  3. Sam

Shane and Claire (and Michael and Eve!) make this series for me so I'm pleased to hear you love them as much as I do. And gosh that quote where Shane and Claire promise to get married – I love it! I hope we get to see something before the series is out. 😉

    Brilliant reviews, Emma!

  4. I loved Last Breath as well, Emily. This series rarely disappoints me even after reading the last 11 books! I haven't read the 12th on yet so I won't read your review but good to see your 5 stars. 🙂
