Hello my lovely bookish friends. Yesterday I announced my Booked-In blog series over the next coming month or so. It’s about sharing love of books, supporting authors, self-care tips and more. Today we all need to read comforting books now more than ever, so I thought I would list my Top 5 Comfort Reads. The ones I could read over and over again and just love them or maybe pick a genre that you just love to snuggle up with a book.
My Top 5 Comfort Reads
Twilight (Twilight, #1) by Stephenie Meyeron September 6, 2006
Genres: Fantasy

Goodreads
About three things I was absolutely positive.
First, Edward was a vampire.
Second, there was a part of him—and I didn't know how dominant that part might be—that thirsted for my blood.
And third, I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him.
Deeply seductive and extraordinarily suspenseful, Twilight is a love story with bite.
An old favourite, a series in book and film that is my guilty pleasure. I would love love to reread these again. Team Edward all the way.
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J.K. RowlingPublished by Bloomsbury on September 1, 2014
Goodreads
"Welcome to the Knight Bus, emergency transportation for the stranded witch or wizard. Just stick out your wand hand, step on board and we can take you anywhere you want to go."
When the Knight Bus crashes through the darkness and screeches to a halt in front of him, it's the start of another far from ordinary year at Hogwarts for Harry Potter. Sirius Black, escaped mass-murderer and follower of Lord Voldemort, is on the run - and they say he is coming after Harry. In his first ever Divination class, Professor Trelawney sees an omen of death in Harry's tea leaves... But perhaps most terrifying of all are the Dementors patrolling the school grounds, with their soul-sucking kiss...

Well a comfort read list without Harry Potter would just be not a comfort list. Ha. I would go for Book 3 as this is my favourite one of the series.
Tilly and the Bookwanderers (Pages & Co. #1) by Anna JamesPublished by HarperCollinsChildren’sBooks on June 27, 2019
Genres: Fantasy, Middle Grade

A magical adventure to delight the imagination. A curl-up-on-the-sofa debut from a uniquely talented author.
Eleven year-old Tilly has lived above her grandparents' bookshop ever since her mother disappeared shortly after she was born. Like the rest of her family, Tilly loves nothing more than to escape into the pages of her favourite stories.
One day Tilly realises that classic children's characters are appearing in the shop through the magic of `book wandering' - crossing over from the page into real life.
With the help of Anne of Green Gables and Alice in Wonderland. Tilly is determined to solve the mystery of what happened to her mother all those years ago, so she bravely steps into the unknown, unsure of what adventure lies ahead and what dangers she may face.
I read this book on holiday in October and it’s a book written by a librarian about bookshops, book-wandering and libraries. Would could be better?! It’s Middle Grade and such an easy escapable read too.
Theatrical by Maggie HarcourtPublished by Usborne Publishing Ltd on June 28, 2018

Hope dreams of working backstage in a theatre, and she’s determined to make it without the help of her famous costume designer mum. So when she lands an internship on a major production, she tells no one. But with a stroppy Hollywood star and his hot young understudy upstaging Hope’s focus, she’s soon struggling to keep her cool… and her secret.
Gorgeously fresh, funny and commercial YA romance from the author of Unconventional, and The Last Summer of Us.
Any of Maggie Hartcourt’s books are just so warming and a book you can cosy up and espcae. I felt that so much in this book. I’m also reading her newest book The Pieces of Ourselves very soon too. Can’t wait.

Tiffy Moore and Leon Twomey each have a problem and need a quick fix.
Tiffy’s been dumped by her cheating boyfriend and urgently needs a new flat. But earning minimum wage at a quirky publishing house means that her choices are limited in London.
Leon, a palliative care nurse, is more concerned with other people’s welfare than his own. Along with working night shifts looking after the terminally ill, his sole focus is on raising money to fight his brother’s unfair imprisonment.
Leon has a flat that he only uses 9 to 5. Tiffy works 9 to 5 and needs a place to sleep. The solution to their problems? To share a bed of course...
As Leon and Tiffy’s unusual arrangement becomes a reality, they start to connect through Post-It notes left for each other around the flat.
Can true love blossom even in the unlikeliest of situations? Can true love blossom even if you never see one another?Or does true love blossom when you are least expecting it?
A new favourite and one I think I had book hangover. It was so so good, and I loved every minute. You just need that smutty, with an element of comedy romance. I have the Switch on my kindle, Beth’s new book coming out so I can’t wait to read that.
Awh there are some really cute suggestions here. B x

Great list! I loved The Flatshare so much and would definitely consider it a comfort read too <3 Pages & Co. looks like a really great read. I just finished a MG book last night and it was so wonderful, I'll definitely be checking out more MG from now 🙂
That whole post it note thing in The Flatshare was wonderful, and I loved Leon so much. I keep hoping Theatrical gets a US release. It sounds like something I would love. I am all about the comfort reads, especially now. Stay safe!
[…] The world is in a very odd place right now and, with all crisises, we are busy trying to find a way to escape and find some sort of normalcy. When I saw on twitter that Emma (@Nverjudgeabook) was holding a blog series as a way to have some fun, I just knew I had to jump on board. The first list was ‘Comfort reads’ and you can read Emma’s post here. […]
Love this – Prisoner of Azkaban is my favourite Harry Potter and I am massive fan of Tilly and the Bookwanderers (I just want to be Tilly). Currently reading The Flat Share and think it is a great piece of escapism!
Will put my five together this weekend to join in.
[…] have my review either later this week. I’m loving it. If you remember from last week’s Top 5 Comfort Reads, Maggie’s Theatrical was on the list, so this new book is what I need right now. Today I have […]
