Hello my bookish friends. I have just finished the most hyped book, Fourth Wing and I am PROUD of myself. It consumed me the whole week of reading and I loved every single minute of it. I’m at a bit of a loss right now as this book is worthy of the obsession at the moment. So I thought the best thing would be to write if not ramble and fangirl over this book. I apologise in advance for that.

So me and hyped books do not get along at all. But there was something about this book that intrigues you. I bought it, I thought that just going to sit on my shelf for ages, but it I kept looking at it. It was calling to me and I regret nothing since turning that first pages. If you are like me and your not a fan of hyped books these are my 3 tips that worked for me…
1. Don’t mention on any social media that you are reading this book, keep it for yourself.
2. Scroll past anything related to said book, I was very good at doing that.
3. Read at your own pace and enjoy the reading experience
I did this and it worked and you will a fulfilled but also a little empty when you finish it. Those are my feelings right now.
Violet Sorrengail, daughter of the general has prepared all her life to be part of the Scribe Quadrant out of the four, Healers, Riders, Infantry and Scribe. But her mother decides that no Sorrengail should be a Scribe and so Violet has no choice but to enter the most gruelling, dangerous war college as part of the Riders Quadrant. As daughter of the general, she also has a target on her back. Her mother didn’t get to where she is without killing a few enemies in her path including that of the deliciously dark and handsome Xaden Riorson. Violet is smart, her mind is filled with knowledge and information whilst her body struggles. She is fragile and I loved this representation of her in the book. She isn’t ‘magically fixed’. Being a rider, she will be physically challenges is more ways than one. But what she does have is courage, and a strong will and she will never give up. She is the strongest character I’ve known in fantasy books.
Right now, I don’t think I have felt this immersed in a adult fantasy book for a long time. Rebecca’s writing is thrilling, shockingly violent which I kinda love, easy to follow fantasy that I was immersed in. The world building was superb, completely escapable and you are truly captivated by it that I just want to go back there. One of the elements that I loved about it was the dragons. As part of the Rider Quadrant, you are chosen by a dragon and you are bonder to them for life. The connection between Violet and her dragons was something incredible special, especially a certain golden one that you can’t help but not love.
I loved the cast of characters really captured a found friendships and a found family. Found friendship is probably another one of my favourite tropes that is underrated in books. Violet is on her own, no contact with her family in this first initiation, so her quadrant become her friends, her family. Each of them bringing something to the book, especially Liam and Rhiannon. But I think the main talk of the book will also be the romance. Boy oh boy, explosive springs to mind, wouldn’t you say if you’ve read it. The angst and forbidden touches, was excruciating at times, but oh so lush as well.
I very rarely read romantic fantasy aka romantasy. Not sure why, it could be a hype thing but that may change. How to describe Fourth Wing, it’s a NA (New Adult) of Divergent meets Eragon, meets Game of Thrones. But this book will stay with you forever. I was emotionally connected, the It will consume your being until the end of the book and beyond. It is worth all the hype and more and I can’t wait for the sequel which is out November. Not that long to wait at all.
