Posted January 1, 2021 by Emma in 2020 books, Book List, Bookish Post, Favourites, UKYA, Wrap-Up, YA / 5 Comments

It’s a new year my lovely readers. Be 2020 and welcome 2021! I’m writing this with Miss Congeniality on New Year’s Day and I reliving my Top Ten Books of 2020! Last year, wasn’t my finest year for reading. But I still read some amazing literature from Children’s to Adult. I felt last year I really read outside of my comfort zone, not too much but just enough to be comfortable in reading different genres. I read some fantastic middle grade books to fluffy, contemporary adult fiction. After each of my suggestion I will add a reason why it’s my favourite this year.

In no particular order, my top books of 2020 are…

My Top Ten Books of 2020Midnight Sun (Twilight, #5) by Stephenie Meyer
Published by Atom on August 3, 2020
Genres: Fantasy & Magic
Amazon | Book Depository | Waterstones
Goodreads

When Edward Cullen and Bella Swan met in Twilight, an iconic love story was born. But until now, fans have heard only Bella's side of the story. At last, readers can experience Edward's version in the long-awaited companion novel, Midnight Sun.
This unforgettable tale as told through Edward's eyes takes on a new and decidedly dark twist. Meeting Bella is both the most unnerving and intriguing event he has experienced in all his years as a vampire. As we learn more fascinating details about Edward's past and the complexity of his inner thoughts, we understand why this is the defining struggle of his life. How can he justify following his heart if it means leading Bella into danger?

Well waiting for 10 years for this book and it was everything I hoped for and more. So of course it’s in my top ten. Probably top 3! | My Review

My Top Ten Books of 2020The Beautiful (The Beautiful, #1) by Renée Ahdieh
on October 8, 2019
Genres: Fantasy
Amazon | Book Depository | Waterstones
Goodreads

New York Times bestselling author Renée Ahdieh returns with a sumptuous, sultry and romantic new series set in 19th century New Orleans where vampires hide in plain sight.
In 1872, New Orleans is a city ruled by the dead. But to seventeen-year-old Celine Rousseau, New Orleans provides her a refuge after she's forced to flee her life as a dressmaker in Paris. Taken in by the sisters of the Ursuline convent along with six other girls, Celine quickly becomes enamored with the vibrant city from the music to the food to the soirées and—especially—to the danger. She soon becomes embroiled in the city's glitzy underworld, known as Le Cour des Lions, after catching the eye of the group's leader, the enigmatic Sèbastien Saint Germain. When the body of one of the girls from the convent is found in the lair of Le Cour des Lions, Celine battles her attraction to him and suspicions about Sèbastien's guilt along with the shame of her own horrible secret.
When more bodies are discovered, each crime more gruesome than the last, Celine and New Orleans become gripped by the terror of a serial killer on the loose—one Celine is sure has set her in his sights . . . and who may even be the young man who has stolen her heart. As the murders continue to go unsolved, Celine takes matters into her own hands and soon uncovers something even more shocking: an age-old feud from the darkest creatures of the underworld reveals a truth about Celine she always suspected simmered just beneath the surface.
At once a sultry romance and a thrilling murder mystery, master storyteller Renée Ahdieh embarks on her most potent fantasy series yet: The Beautiful.

I read this way past the hype and I loved the the atmosphere and world building of this. | My Review

Book Review | Rooftoppers by Katherine Rundell
