Feature & Follow (#11)

Posted November 2, 2012 by Emma in Blog / 5 Comments

Feature & Follow Friday is a blog hop that is designed to provide some much-appreciated exposure to the bloggers participating, and to expand their following. Hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read, each of whom feature a chosen blog for the week, it’s an interesting way to get to know one another.
Q: What is a deal breaker for you in a book? For example, do you abhor love triangles? Or can’t deal with bad editing?

A:  Hmmm, tough question… I think that what really gets me is the bad editing. For example I have seen the in multiple books the use of “the the”. When I was younger, I never understood why a writer would use the word twice in a constant flow. Still to this day it annoys me. Haha.

Another thing that annoys me is a love triangles. Sometimes they work brilliantly and whether the author uses a unique twist to it, its flawless. But the one book that instantly pops into my head is Twilight! I love Edward and I know some of you are Team Jacob though we all knew that Bella would choose Edward, that’s a deal breaker. Also I have some mixed reviews about Pandemonium where the Love Triangle isn’t necessary and it really doesn’t work, but I have yet to read that book.

I’m sorry, I hope you don’t get bored with some of my long answers, its what being an AS English Student dies to you when you have to justify everything. Haha! I hope this works alright as this is the first time doing it on my new tablet. Hehe!

What is your deal breaker? I’d love to know… Leave your blogs FF link below and I will be sure to ‘hop’ on over…

  1. Same! I totally hate bad editing. And I agree, some love triangles work, some don't. Personally, I don't see the attraction in Jacob. Team Edward all the way! πŸ˜€ Great answers, Em. And I know, Lit is making me analyse stuff all the time. πŸ˜‰

  2. I agree completely about bad editing. I always notice little things and they bug me. And love triangles! Oh my stars they are everywhere! If handled right, I can read it and not mind too badly. But it seems to be the going thing that if you write a book, especially YA, it has to have a triangle. And a lot of books really don't need one. I wish I could change that idea.
