Posted February 12, 2020 by Emma in Discussion Post, Fantasy, Fantasy Feb, UKYA, YA / 3 Comments

Happy Wednesday my bookish friends. We are half way through the week and half way closer to the weekend and for me a week off. Yay! I’m continuing my fabulous Fantasy Feb content today with the best post ever – a reading list! This reading list had no limits, what it is, is my Ultimate reading list of Fantasy Books. So I will keep adding to it. But for now these are the books that everyone should read and certainly my favourites.*

*Side note – I was scrolling through my Goodreads to check through all of the fantasy books I’ve read in case I’d forgotten any and can I say just how much reading has changed so much!!!! Wow! – that’s a topic for a discussion or feature post.

THERE IS NO PARTICULAR ORDER!

Twilight by Stephenie Meyer – This was the book that got me back into reading! Still to this day is one of my favourites. It’s also the series that I’ve reread the most – 4 times. I wish to go back to those days. Also for the record I am Team Edward for life.

Morganville Vampires series by Rachel Caine – Can you see a theme here? I loved Dark Fantasy back in the day when it was massive. This series just kept me hooked for the whole summer holidays. I loved it and I loved crazy scientist, Myrnin and his bunny slippers (that’s if your a fan like me).

Shadow and Bone (Grisha series) by Leigh Bardugo – I mean please, who doesn’t love the world building of Ravka and The Darkling.

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas – One of my ultimate favourite series, there hasn’t been anything like this in a long time.

To Kill a Kingdom by Alexandra Christo – I read this a couple of years ago as part of my Fantasy Feb and I absolutely loved it. My first fantasy book about Sirens, kingdoms and princes hearts – what could be better.

A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab – I read this and the first book by V.E. Schwab last year and I devoured it. I know a lot of you love her books too. My aim this year is to read more and finish this series.

Viper by Bex Hogan – Ahhh, can’t recommend this book enough! Bex is in with the greats of fantasy and Venom, which comes out in 2 months people, I can’t wait to read more of the Twelve Isles.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J.K. Rowling – It’s Harry Potter! The best children’s fantasy series of all time! I picked number 3 as this is the last one I finished but also my favourite one too.

The Bear and he Nightingale (Winternight trilogy) by Katharine Arden – A series I devoured last year, but the rich and enchanting world building of Russia and the beauty of a retelling of a Russian fairytale as well.

The Wicked Deep by Shea Ernshaw – Is one Magical YA that will never leave you. I remember feeling breathless when I finished this book. I always feel it’s very underrated or forgotten in the UK as well. So if you haven’t read it, do – please!

Girls of Paper and Fire by Natasha Ngan – A f/f fantasy. I think I was living under a rock when this book first came out and then I read it and couldn’t get enough of it. A blazing glory of rebellion, justice, identity and love.

The Witch’s Kiss series by Kate and Elizabeth Corr – The first series by Kate and Liz and when I truly loved their seamless writing as sisters. I’m Team Gran by the way! I miss the series so much and I can’t wait to read Throne of Swans which will also be added to the list

Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness – Well Matthew Claremont and Sarah Bishop, the Bodlian Library and a secret book. The magic of Oxford and hot smouldering vampire. Oh and the most amazing binge-worthy TV series to date.

A Curse So Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer – Um well. It’s not the last one by a long shot, its the one that’s recently got added. This is one series I can’t get enough of. Rhen, Harper and Grey. I love the world building and the beauty and the beast retelling.
