Hello my bookish friends, we are half way throughout the week! Yay, we are nearly at the weekend but that also means we are near the end of February already. I really hate how time flies. But anyways I digress. I still have a few more Fantasy themed posts to post.
Today’s one is chosen by you via Twitter. Now when I wrote the title I actually thought I’ve read 5 Adult Fantasy books, in a way I have but I’ve read the rest of the series to ones I’ve chosen. So one of the books will be from the same series. But I guess if the same author is in my top 5 twice, you know it’s amazing and all the more reason to read it! If that makes sense and I don’t want to duplicate. This year I intend to read many more adult fantasy books as there is so many I want to escape into.
TOP 5 ADULT FANTASY BOOKS I LOVE
The Bear and the Nightingale (Winternight Trilogy, #1) by Katherine ArdenPublished by Del Rey on October 5, 2017
Genres: Fantasy, Historical

The Winter of the Witch (Winternight Trilogy #3) by Katherine ArdenAt the edge of the Russian wilderness, winter lasts most of the year and the snowdrifts grow taller than houses. But Vasilisa doesn't mind—she spends the winter nights huddled around the embers of a fire with her beloved siblings, listening to her nurse's fairy tales. Above all, she loves the chilling story of Frost, the blue-eyed winter demon, who appears in the frigid night to claim unwary souls. Wise Russians fear him, her nurse says, and honor the spirits of house and yard and forest that protect their homes from evil.
After Vasilisa's mother dies, her father goes to Moscow and brings home a new wife. Fiercely devout, city-bred, Vasilisa's new stepmother forbids her family from honoring the household spirits. The family acquiesces, but Vasilisa is frightened, sensing that more hinges upon their rituals than anyone knows.
And indeed, crops begin to fail, evil creatures of the forest creep nearer, and misfortune stalks the village. All the while, Vasilisa's stepmother grows ever harsher in her determination to groom her rebellious stepdaughter for either marriage or confinement in a convent.
As danger circles, Vasilisa must defy even the people she loves and call on dangerous gifts she has long concealed—this, in order to protect her family from a threat that seems to have stepped from her nurse's most frightening tales.

One girl can make a difference...
Moscow has burned nearly to the ground, leaving its people searching for answers - and someone to hold accountable. Vasya finds herself on her own, amid a rabid mob that calls for her death, blaming her witchery for their misfortune.
Then a vengeful demon returns, renewed and stronger than ever, determined to spread chaos in his wake and never be chained again. Enlisting the hateful priest Konstantin as his servant, turmoil plagues the Muscovites and the magical creatures alike, and all find their fates resting on the shoulders of Vasya.
With an uncertain destiny ahead of her, Vasya learns surprising truths of her past as she desperately tries to save Russia, Morozko, and the magical world she treasures. But she may not be able to save them all...
This series is one of my favourite ever fantasy series. A Russian, fantastical fairytale with simply stunning storytelling. It will capture and captivate till the end of the series. That’s why I’ve picked the best two of the series, book 1 and book 3 with no spoilers.
A Discovery of Witches (All Souls Trilogy, #1) by Deborah HarknessPublished by Viking Penguin on February 8, 2011

Deep in the stacks of Oxford's Bodleian Library, young scholar Diana Bishop unwittingly calls up a bewitched alchemical manuscript in the course of her research. Descended from an old and distinguished line of witches, Diana wants nothing to do with sorcery; so after a furtive glance and a few notes, she banishes the book to the stacks. But her discovery sets a fantastical underworld stirring, and a horde of daemons, witches, and vampires soon descends upon the library. Diana has stumbled upon a coveted treasure lost for centuries-and she is the only creature who can break its spell.
I adore this series, I’m a bit in love with the TV show as well. I’ve only just read this book so far, but I intend to reread it along with book 2 before I watch Season 2.
A Darker Shade of Magic (Shades of Magic, #1) by V.E. SchwabPublished by Titan Books on February 24, 2018
Genres: Fantasy

Kell is one of the last travellers–magicians with a rare ability to travel between parallel universes connected by one magical city.
There’s Grey London, without magic and ruled by the mad King George III. Red London–where magic is revered, and where Kell was raised alongside the heir to the empire. White London–where people fight to control the remaining magic and magic fights back.
And once there was Black London…
So there can’t be a Top 5 list without a V.E. Schwab book. I only read book 1 last year after waiting for the hype to go down, but I fell with Victoria’s books the hype never goes away. I’m hoping to complete the series this year.
The Library of the Unwritten (Hell's Library #1) by A.J. Hackwith

Join the library and raise hell in the first book of a stunning new fantasy series, where books unfinished by their authors reside within the Unwritten Wing of the devil's own library, and restless characters will emerge from out of their pages...
Every book left unfinished by its author is filed away in the Unwritten Wing, a neutral space in Hell presided over by Claire, its head librarian. Along with repairing and organizing books, her job consists of keeping an eye on restless stories whose characters risk materialising and escaping the library.
When a Hero escapes from his book and goes in search of his author, Claire must track and capture him with the help of former muse and current assistant Brevity and nervous demon courier Leto. But what should have been a simple retrieval goes horrifyingly wrong, in a chase that threatens to reshape the boundaries between Heaven, Hell... and Earth.
Last but no means least, is a recent addition to my favourites. The first in the Hell’s Library series. A book about stories and kick ass librarians in hell. What could be better.
Such a cool post (I’m so going to steal this) I need to read some of these series 😍
Love this list and post! The only one I haven’t read on this list is Library of the Unwritten and I’m so keen to read it soon. The others are some of my all time favourites 😍

I’ve put off The Bear and the Nightingale for way too long. I always tell myself I’ll read it over Christmas and that never happens.
