Happy Friday my wonderful peeps. We made it to the end of the week and in the UK it’s a bank holiday weekend. YAY! So lets start the long weekend with the book recommendation that you should all read. Today I’m part of the blog tour for The Summer Job by Lizzy Dent with Penguin Viking Books. I started this book yesterday, and due to work and life I won’t be able to write my review in time. But I still NEEDED to spotlight this book on my tour stop because it’s one not to be missed.

Have you ever imagined running away from your life?
Well Birdy Finch didn't just imagine it. She did it. Which might've been an error. And the life she's run into? Her best friend, Heather's.
The only problem is, she hasn't told Heather. Actually there are a few other problems...
Can Birdy carry off a summer at a luxury Scottish hotel pretending to be her best friend (who incidentally is a world-class wine expert)?
And can she stop herself from falling for the first man she's ever actually liked (but who thinks she's someone else)?
If you're looking to replace that Fleabag or Bridesmaids sized hole in your life, look no further: Birdy Finch is here. A snort-out-loud romcom with a heart of gold, The Summer Job is THE debut to lose yourself in this year.

As I’m half way through I thought I would tell you my first impressions and 5 reasons why I you should pick this book up.

  1. For the first time in ages it was a book I was itching to read when I was at work, I was excited to get home, plonk myself down and knew I would laugh, smile so much. I love that feeling, I live for it these days.
  2. For fan of Beth O’Leary definitely. If you’ve read The Road Trip and you need a recommendation, put The Summer Job straight to the top of your buy list and TBRs!
  3. For me it’s got the Devil’s Wear Prada feel to it, with Birdy being Heather’s place in a totally new job and out of her depths.
  4. There is a cracking cast of characters, I love James (could be possible love interest) and Bill the bartender that likes to try his alcoholic concoctions before serve. He’s so funny.
  5. Birdy aka Heather is such a character, love her honestly and bluntness and whilst she may not have her life sorted out, I think things are going to change.

I will be reviewing this book next week, so be sure to check out my review then. Thank you so much to Penguin Viking Books for sending my a proof and finished copy in exchange for an honest review.
