Today I’m bring you Part 1 of my post for the blog tour of Monstrous Design by Kat Dunn. My stop will have a Q&A but it’s not quite ready yet, so I thought I would share with you a short review of Dangerous Remedy and why you should put this book on your TBR.

Thank you to Zephyr Books for sending me both copies exchange for honest review.

My Review

First of all can we just appreciate the covers of these books. They are gorgeous.

This week I have been thoroughly enjoying book 1, Dangerous Remedy, I would like to point out that Monstrous Design can act as standalone as well as a sequel. I really wanted to read this book for a long time so I thought I would binge read them both. I have to say, I’ve loved it.

If you know me, then you’ll know historical fiction is not my forte, sometimes I feel it’s made to be too complicated and it puts me off. The world that Kat Dun has created has a mix of everything that you can’t help but just keep reading. Set in the time of the French Revolution, we have a group of bandits, bridging the gap between the revolutionaries and the royalists. Saving the innocent that have been caught in the crossfire. Prison breaks by hot air balloon, a battalion of unique and diverse characters, Camille, Ada, Al, Guil and James. We have magic disused as science with the experiments of electricity in the human body. It’s very Frankenstein, and I loved it. Even if I was a bit squeamish at the church scene.

I really loved these characters, they are very brave and proud to be doing this, even if some plans are little adventurous and crazy. The is loads of tension both romantically between Camille and Al and when everything is about to go wrong. But they always have a plan within the plan.

So if you loved Dangerous Remedy, and haven’t picked it up, then I urge you too. Monstrous Design follows the same characters, The Battalion of the Dead as they seek a new adventure amidst the 18th Century, with even more magic, dark science and horror. Also this is the perfect addition to your TBR for Pride Month.

Here is a little more about Monstrous Remedy and check out my blog later this week with more from me about this book.

Following the thrills and spills of Dangerous Remedy, the Battalion of the Dead return in a dazzling new adventure, set amid the opulence and squalour of 18th-century London and Paris.
1794, London: Camille and Al are desperately hunting Olympe's kidnapper. From the glamorous excesses of the Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens to the city's seedy underbelly, they are caught in a dangerous game of lies and deceit. And a terrible new enemy lies in wait with designs more monstrous than they could ever imagine... Can Camille play on to the end or will she be forced to show her hand?
In Paris, the Duc is playing his own dangerous games. With Ada in his thrall, old loyalties are thrown into question. The Battalion are torn apart as never before, and everything – Ada's love for Camille, her allegiance to the battalion itself – is under threat.
