It’s been a while since I wrote a review so I might be a bit rusty so bear with me. Tonight I’m exciting to be part of (a day late) to the social blog tour of Wish this Kiss by Carrie Hope Fletcher. I was so absorbed in finishing the book that I wanted to do the review justice especially after being absent for so long on my blog. So I am going to head straight into my thoughts. But here is a little bit more on Carrie’s newest release.

When their lips touch, will she seal his fate?
From the outside, Lorelai is an ordinary young woman with a normal life. She loves reading, she works at the local cinema and she adores living with her best friend. But she carries a painful burden, something she’s kept hidden for years; whenever she kisses someone on the lips, she sees how they are going to die. But she’s never known if she’s seeing what was always meant to be, or if her kiss is the thing that decides their destiny. And so, she hasn’t kissed anyone since she was sixteen.
Then she meets Grayson. Sweet, clever, funny Grayson. And for the first time in years she yearns for a man’s kiss. But she can’t… or can she? And if she does, should she try to intervene and change what she sees?
Spellbinding, magical and utterly original, With This Kiss is one love story you will never forget.
My Thoughts
CAWPILE – 7.14 – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My first Carrie Hope Fletcher book! I mean where have I been I must have been hiding under a rock all these years. I am a huge fan of the Fletchers’ family in general, with their writing together – Eve of Man, or separately – Billy and Me – and I swear writing is in their genes.
It took me a little while to really get into With This Kiss, but when I did I found the plot so intriguing. Before you read it I would urge you to read the beginning pages as Carrie explains her inspiration for writing such a book and the concept is really thought-provoking. Instantly from the cover you would think this is romance book, but ultimately there is a twist of the paranormal and I think I thoroughly enjoyed that element A lot.
Lorelai’s ability to kiss someone and see their death was in itself the most intriguing part of the book. I myself was completely absorbed in her journey from this discovery as a teenager to living her life now. She kept it a secret all this time, hiding away and it’s her inner struggles and learning whether this ability was it a curse, is she the monster that wills their death? Or is it a gift, a hero as her best friend, Joanie likes to make her out to be, to save those lives. Lorelai has only really started to question or understand her ability because of meeting Grayson. Sparks are flying between them and she desperately wants to kiss him but she doesn’t want to see his death every time.
I found the ends particularly the last 100 pages of the book completely transfixed with how everything was coming together. I also felt more connected towards the character, I was able to empathise with Lorelai and I loved getting to know her more and understand her very guarded and flawed character trying to figure out what she needed and what she wanted.
Carrie is renowned for passion for the arts and it’s no surprise how she harness that in her writing. How her main character loved cinema and how she wants to be a script writer and adapt her favourite books into films. Whilst I would say her writing isn’t the best I’ve read, I would say how much I thoroughly enjoyed every minute it, whilst even writing about some tricky topics. I now want to read all of Carrie’s backlist of books – just not sure which to start with first.
