Happy Pride Month my friends. The last few years I have read more queer books, I find for me as a reader and a librarian it’s important for me to read different, diverse and inclusive books. I think Heartstopper really kicked off my love for LGBTQ+ books.

I’ve grown as a reader and I love that. So I thought today I would share some of favourite books, some underrated ones that you might not have heard of that need to be on your radar.

ONLY ON THE WEEKENDS BY DEAN ATTA

This was my first verse novel and I absolutely adored it. There is somethign refreshing when you read a diferrent style of book. It creates such a lyrical and beautiful approach to this story, it brought it to life. If love Heartstopper then you should definietly read this book.

THE HONEYS BY RYAN LA SALA

A Summer Horror story – however what I loved was how I felt educated and on reflection we see Mars trying to fit in and how society (the camp) is this instance views him. I loved how we see Mars being true to himself throughout the whole no matter what.

SOMETHING CERTAIN, MAYBE BY SARA BARNARD

This novel is beautiful as it explores life choices and decisiion about friendships, realtionships and their futures. It captures a touching bond between mum and daughter which I empathised with.

Sixteen Souls by Rosie Talbot

Perfect for Halloween, you are sucked into the setting of this book instantly. It’s also my first YA book with a disabled rep, which I thought Rosie wrote so well. You grow attached to some ghosts as well! I’m so excited for Twelve Bones by Rosie Talbot. I was very lucky to get my copy signed at Comic Con and Rosie’s character is really inspiring as an author and influencer.

You’re Not Supposed to Die Tonight by Kalynn Bayron

This one I just finished this week. Just over 200 pages long, this one is pacey, edge of your seat Halloween (Michael Myers) vibes Horror that you won’t be able to put down. Another new release to add to your TBR.

Full review next week.
