Hello my lovely readers. Something a little different today I’ve started listening to books and I never thought I would see the day. I want to record my audiobook journey, what I read, my favourite narrators and some top tips from someone who couldn’t use them for so long.
I’ve been a big NO to audiobooks in the past. I’ve tried loads but the books I chose just weren’t for me and the real big ick for me was I hated having someone else’s voice inside my head. I just couldn’t.
Until in a way I was forced too which is a strange thing to say/write.
The answer – I bought a car.
AND GUESS WHAT?! – I read more now than ever as my commute is longer by car so I read more!!!!!
I passed my driving test back in February and I have been an avid user of public transport for most of my life. I read on the train every day and then when I bought my car, I realised that I wouldn’t have the commute reading anymore. So I thought I would try audiobooks again and BookBeat came to the rescue.

As you know I’m a lover of YA so that’s what I looked for and I adore a YA thriller – they are the perfect hookup genre for any reader of any format in my head. So I started with Five Survive by Holly Jackson. It was the only HJ book I hadn’t read and I honestly couldn’t have picked a better book or genre to start me on my audiobook journey. Now I recently just finished my second YA Supernatural Thriller, When the Bones Sing by Ginny Myers Sain – which is amazing – I rated it 4.5/5 stars. Still a little undecided.
I’m now starting my 3rd audiobook on the way home today which is The Thrashers by Julie Soto.

- Some audiobooks have the ebooks attached which you can read for free if it runs out
- They have all the latest books but for me they have all the Underrated Books specifically YA that I adore.
- I’ve saved 42 books on my list and I still have more to scroll through – which I love.
- You can download and read it online and offline. Here’s some screenshots of my app below.

Welcome back to audiobooks! I’m a big fan of driving and ‘reading’ at the same time.
