Top 5 Fictional One True Pairings (OTPs)

Posted November 25, 2020 by Emma in Book List, Booked-In, Bookish Post, YA / 4 Comments

Hello my lovely readers, I am back again with another Top 5 post. I really do love these.

So back in the original lockdown I created the Booked-In series of posts, as we are once again in a similar situation, Steph BooksLoveReaders and I wanted to expand it. We are going to be doing a Top 5 series every week, so do let us know if you would like to take part and we will send the prompts in advance.

Today is all about our favourite romantic pairing, soulmates, the true pairings. This is really hard as I haven’t read a lot of the fandoms, popular OTPs so I hope you like/read some of my choices.

My Top 5 Fictional OTPs

Top 5 Fictional One True Pairings (OTPs)Twilight (Twilight, #1) by Stephenie Meyer

About three things I was absolutely positive.
First, Edward was a vampire.
Second, there was a part of him—and I didn't know how dominant that part might be—that thirsted for my blood.
And third, I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him.
Deeply seductive and extraordinarily suspenseful, Twilight is a love story with bite.

Edward and Bella

Is it any surprise that I start with my favourite couple since I first began reading YA. I was always Team Edward, they were made for each other. Jacob really didn’t come into it for me.

Top 5 Fictional One True Pairings (OTPs)A Court of Thorns and Roses (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #1) by Sarah J. Maas

Feyre is a huntress.
She thinks nothing of slaughtering a wolf to capture its prey. But, like all mortals, she fears what lingers mercilessly beyond the forest. And she will learn that taking the life of a magical creature comes at a high price...
Imprisoned in an enchanted court in her enemy's kingdom, Feyre is free to roam but forbidden to escape. Her captor's body bears the scars of fighting, and his face is always masked - but his piercing stare draws her ever closer. As Feyre's feeling for Tamlin begin to burn through every warning she's been told about his kind, an ancient, wicked shadow grows.
Feyre must find a way to break a spell, or lose her heart forever.

Feyre and Rhysand

Well one popular fandom I have read. Feyre and Rhysand are the couple YA Fantasy, I love them. I still haven’t read Throne of Glass, but I think my love for them won’t change.

Top 5 Fictional One True Pairings (OTPs)A Curse So Dark and Lonely (Cursebreakers, #1) by Brigid Kemmerer
Published by Bloomsbury Children's on January 29, 2019
Genres: Fantasy
Amazon | Book Depository | Waterstones
Goodreads

Fall in love, break the curse.
It once seemed so easy to Prince Rhen, the heir to Emberfall. Cursed by a powerful enchantress to repeat the autumn of his eighteenth year over and over, he knew he could be saved if a girl fell for him. But that was before he learned that at the end of each autumn, he would turn into a vicious beast hell-bent on destruction. That was before he destroyed his castle, his family, and every last shred of hope.
Nothing has ever been easy for Harper Lacy. With her father long gone, her mother dying, and her brother barely holding their family together while constantly underestimating her because of her cerebral palsy, she learned to be tough enough to survive. But when she tries to save someone else on the streets of Washington, DC, she’s instead somehow sucked into Rhen’s cursed world.
Break the curse, save the kingdom.
A prince? A monster? A curse? Harper doesn’t know where she is or what to believe. But as she spends time with Rhen in this enchanted land, she begins to understand what’s at stake. And as Rhen realizes Harper is not just another girl to charm, his hope comes flooding back. But powerful forces are standing against Emberfall . . . and it will take more than a broken curse to save Harper, Rhen, and his people from utter ruin.

Rhen and Harper

I was a bit late to the party with the Cursebreaker’s series. First I was all Harper and Grey in the first, book and kinda secretly do but I know Grey’s story is going elsewhere. Plus when you takeaway the beast persona of Rhen, you do see his true colours.

Top 5 Fictional One True Pairings (OTPs)Divergent by Veronica Roth

THREE FLYING BIRDS...ONE FOR EACH MEMBER OF THE FAMILY I LEFT BEHIND.
Sixteen-year-old Tris is forced to make a terrible choice. In a divided society where everyone must conform, Tris does not fit.
So she ventures out alone, determined to discover where she truly belongs. Shocked by her brutal new life Tris can trust no one. And yet she is drawn to a boy who seems to both threaten and protect her.
The hardest choice lies ahead.

Four and Tris

I loved Divergent, movie and book, and Theo James playing Four *swooons* sealed the deal for me. I loved this couple in the early stages of YA book to film. Confession time – I haven’t read the final book as I was put out by them cutting the movie.

Top 5 Fictional One True Pairings (OTPs)Did I Mention I Love You? by Estelle Maskame

Genres: Romance, Contemporary
Amazon | Book Depository | Waterstones
Goodreads

When sixteen-year-old Eden Munro agrees to spend the summer with her estranged father in the beachfront city of Santa Monica, California, she has no idea what she’s letting herself in for. Eden's parents are divorced and have gone their separate ways, and now her father has a brand new family. For Eden, this means she's about to meet three new step-brothers. The eldest of the three is Tyler Bruce, a troubled teenager with a short temper and a huge ego. Complete polar opposites, Eden quickly finds herself thrust into a world full of new experiences as Tyler's group of friends take her under their wing. But the one thing she just can't understand is Tyler, and the more she presses to figure out the truth about him, the more she finds herself falling for the one person she shouldn't – her step-brother.
Throw in Tyler's clingy girlfriend and a guy who has his eyes set on Eden, and there's secrets, lies and a whole lot of drama. But how can Eden keep her feelings under control? And can she ever work out the truth about Tyler?
Did I Mention I Love You is the first book in the phenomenal DIMILY trilogy, following the lives of Eden Munro and Tyler Bruce as they try to find their way in an increasingly confusing world.

Eden and Tyler

Here’s a different one, in my head I was thinking Ana and Christian, but thought I’d keep it all YA. Haha. So I wanted to pick the Eden and Tyler, the most addictive contemporary romance series I devoured and I didn’t have to wait that long for each instalment. I loved the step-sibling romance and Tyler was indeed smoking. They were made for each other, regardless of their family.

Tell me a fictional OTP of yours? I know I need to read more of the fandoms.

Until the next time,

  1. Great list Emma! I enjoy Edward and Bella too, but I was Team Jacob all the way. Edward just rubbed me the wrong way, but I am happy with how it all turned out so it is good now. 🙂

  2. I was never really on the Twilight wagon until someone gave me copies of the movie. I haven’t read the books but I watched the movies and I was Jacob all the way. I still haven’t been able to watch the last movie because I am still bitter over it. 🤣🤣🤣

Rowaelin (Throne of Glass). I shipped them so hard but also partly wished Aelin had a harem and Rowan would just be first among equals. (Hahaha)

Beatrix and Peter (Clandestine Magic Trilogy). The plot device used to connect them made this romantic pairing a bit painful but worth the wait.

  3. Four and Tris used to be my OTP haha, I miss those years. My ultimate OTP would be Percabeth from the Percy Jackson series- they’re just so cute and have grown together throughout the series, it’s hard not to root for them!
