Welcome 2023 my book friends!
I do love a new year purely as a refresh for mind, body and soul right?! That’s the same for books as well. I reflect on 2022 reads which went amazingly well. See my previous post for my top reads of the year and I feel reinvigorated for the year ahead. I love setting myself new goals and I can’t wait for the a year of new books and discovering new authors.
I feel like this year I am more organised and more put together with my home, my business taking flight and everything feels like it’s going in the right direction. So with that in mind let get straight onto my goals for the year ahead.
My Bookish Intentions of 2023
Carving time out daily to read! Build the reading routine into my day!
This was was goal last year and it didn’t quite work as much as I wanted it too. But I think my plan is to make sure I read an hour before bed everyday. When I have a break, pick up my book and NOT my phone. I love being on social media but I don’t want it to take up my time either. I need a healthy balance but more on reading if I am to complete my reading goal!
Read 40 books!
That’s my Goodreads/StoryGraph goal. It’s a little ambitious but I did read 32 in 2022 which I’m very proud of. I think I can do it and I want to read more short stories so I don’t get too slumpy in the middle if I’m struggling.
Read Popular Books I haven’t read yet!
I’m notoriously known for NOT reading the popular books that everyone loves. Towards the end of last year I finally read The Folk of the Air series by Holly Black and absolutely loved it. I will reveal my popular books list in the next few weeks.
23 off my TBR
In light of 2023 and my ever-growing TBR. I’ve chosen 23 of the oldest books that have been on there for such a long time. Books like The Hate U Give, The Invisible Life of Addie Larue and Red Queen.
Stick with my Reading Journey/Bookish Bujo
I started one year back but I’m terrible at keeping up with it so this year I’ve really put some thought into what I want out of it and I love it. I will do a flip through in the next couple of weeks. I also love being creative so I’ve really enjoyed designing to how I want it.
Last but no means least – ENJOY READING !
Take a step back if you need but ultimately read to escape, read for pleasure, read for fun. If a book isn’t doing that for you then don’t be afraid to go to the next one.
What are your bookish intentions for 2023!
Let me know in the comments.
Those sound like good goals! I totally agree it’s about finding the small things to change to find time for reading. I am giving up Youtube and replacing it with reading, just for January to begin with, but hoping it will help me more long term to turn to books more often. My Storygraph goal is 52 books 🙂
My goals are pretty similar to yours! I have, at least, 23 books I want to knock off my physical TBR. And I’m trying to read every day before sleeping, although I’m not sure I can read a whole hour, I get so sleepy.
Love your goals. I’m just attempting to start a book BuJo for 2023.
