I have also read more diversly this year and read books that have been on my TBR in forever. I feel this year has been the best reading year in a very long time.

TOP 10 BOOKS OF 2022!
Heartstopper by Alice Oseman
I’m not sure why it took me this long to read this series of graphic novels. I think the Netflix adaptation was the turning point. I felt like I was the last person in the world to have read it but I felt I read the book at the right time for me. This series a true testament to life, gender, identity, friendships, coming out, school. It’s quite simply perfect and it’s a hug in a book, it’s a comfort read that I will pick up over and over again.
The Ivory Key by Akshaya Raman
This was my first 5 read of 2022 and it was a 5 star read. I aboslutely adored this fantasy. This was Akshaya’s debut and she has such a beautiful writing style and storyline that was so immersive it’s unforgettable. I loved the rich and vibrant world building and such a familal character arc.
The Wicked King by Holly Black
Why the sequel of The Folk and Air series you ask? Well I personally think this is one of the best sequels in a trilogy I’ve read in a long time. Not only is it a series that’s been on a TBR in forever but it’s one of my favoruite YA fantasy series as well. I’m so excited for The Stolen Heir. Eeek.
The Honeys by Ryan de Sala
A disturbing horror that will leave you chilled to the core. I loved this book and didn’t realise how much I would until I couldn’t put it down. Don’t let the cover fool you, it’s horrifyingly seductive in it’s storyline and Ryan de Sala’s writing style as well. He pulls you in.
Only at the Weekends by Dean Atta
I told you I read more diverse and pride reads and I loved every single one. This was my first book written in verse, prose. It creates such a lyrical, poetic and beautiful approach to Dean’s story. It brought it to life!
Crescent City by Sarah J. Maas
Another book that’s been on my TBR for ages. I love Sarah J. Maas ACOTAR series and I heard so much about this book, plus the sequel was due for release so I really fancied picking it up. Whilst it’s the biggest book I’ve read, and probably the spiciest this year I loved it. I mean you can’t beat Maas writing right?
Something Certain Maybe by Sara Barnard
This summer I read some incredible books. This is one of my favourite book from Sara Barnard. Not many books are set in university and I loved the sapphic relationship. What made it special for me is the realtionship between the MC and her mum which really pulled my heartstrings.
Daughter of Darkness by Katherine and Elizabeth Corr
I couldn’t do my top ten without adding my favourite sister authors. Kate and Liz create another magnificent fantasy set around Greek Mythology. It’s a YA Circe (which I still haven’t read). I adore their writing and always have and this was no exception.
Deadly Education by Naomi Novik
Another book that was on my TBR forever. Ever since read The Winternight I’ve always been recommended Naomi Novik and I can certianly see why. Her attention to detail, the dyanamic, intense and unqiue world building and magic system really draws you in. I can’t wait to finish the series.
The Discovered by Maggie Sunseri
This is a self published series which I absolutely devoured it. Maggie has such a lyrical way of writing. I loved the forced proximity and desitined one tropes and it had the perfect amount of smut for me. It’s a bingeable series that I can’t wait to finish next year.
