Hello my lovely bookworms, these days I seem to be writing loads of posts and then they stay in my drafts. This was meant to go out last week but
Last week was International Women’s Day and it got me thinking and I really wanted to share some of my favourite female writers who create fierce female character we aspire to be or inspired by their character.
It will come to no surprise about some of the books that I’m talking about today, but some of these are the strongest female authors and character I’ve read.
So without furhter ado here are my…
Top 5 Fierce Female Author and/or Characters in Fiction
I’ve decided to pick something for every genre. Each of the characters or authors create something that they are proud of.
Holly Bourne | What’s a Girl Gotta Do?!
It’s no surprise that I pick Holly Bourne as my first author. Not only is she an inspirational author and queen of YA. For this post I picked What’s a Girl Gotta Do?!, as Lottie the main character is probably the most outrageouis and outspoken characters, never afraid to act or say what she wants. She quite literally wants to change the world and that’s why I love her and her story.
Laura Steven | The Exact Opposite of Being Okay
another author that I love purely becuase I was introduced to the genre by Holly Boure. I find myself reading so many incredible books about feminist and female characters. This about the hilariously honest character, Izzy O’Neil – a character you just can’t help but love and laugh.
Bex Hogan | Viper
the one of the most kickass pirates in YA! I admit that I need to finish the last book but it’s one I’m hesitant and scared to finish. Marianne is a pirate that goes against the odds. Marianne is strong-willed, fierce and courageus herione. She is inspired and one of my favourites heriones in YA. I love how kick-ass she is but she also is willing to admit her insecurities too.
Leigh Bardugo | Wonder Woman: Warbringer
I had to add this book, Wonder Woman a superhero for women. I love reading her origin story and Leigh was the best author to write her story. Warbringer brought about a new perspective of Diana Prince, and how she was inspirational even living in the mortal world. I love how she become Wonder Woman in the this book.
Holly Jackson | A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder
Pip, who doesn’t love a noisy detective! Holly Jackson created a young detective with gumption. A character that young people will inspire to be. She is such a loveable and inspiraing character, that even my students dressed up as her for World Book Day.
What female writer or female character do you love? Who is inspirational and unforgetable.
Content warnings – Abuse, unhealthy relationships This is her tenth YA book and Holly Bourne isn’t Queen of YA for nothing! It taken me a while to really put this book into words. If you saw my tweets when reading this book you will understand that this book pretty much ripped me apart. There was snot, I’m happy to admit that. When you read this book, please have a box of tissues with you, you will need them. I promise you that. Amelie starts 6th Form completely alone and straight into the unknown, but she still has herself, her cardigans […]
Hello my Book Friends – today I bring to you an inspired post from Holly Bourne’s latest book, What Magic is This? that I reviewed last week. I loved it and if you know me you will know that Holly is one of my all time favourite authors. I felt inspired by this novella so I created a spell, with a little help from Barrington Stoke and Holly Bourne. This spell and this novella is something for you whether you believe in magic or not, whether you loved magical friendships like Harry Potter (- which I’m sure you all do.) […]
Once again, Holly has done it again! As soon a s I started reading it I had a huge smile on my face, it’s that familiarity of her writing style that just makes you feel very excited and warm inside because you know everything is right in the world with Holly Bourne writing her books. What Magic is This? is no exception to that. She never fails to amaze me on writing a story half the size of all of her other books and yet it still packs a punch. Three friends all believe that after one night they have magical […]
So ages ago I posted a tweet about my current read which was Enchantée at the time and this particular post created such a conversation I loved it. Then I did a poll on Twitter on how we react to some of our posts on our blogs or twitter whether we just Like/RT or Comment and the majority was the first. Which I think is good but there’s something about a conversation about your book, talking about it shares so much within the bookish community. So Emily from A Short Book Lover and I were talking so we thought we might […]
